Gortnalee Garden

Gortnalee House is a Passive House built in 2007. Over the next two years the garden was developed by me to a design I created. I had been challenged by my late husband Brendan to create a garden on the 0.6 acre site without a lawn! The garden has evolved over the years since then and features different planting arrangements, lots of interesting little pathways to explore with a mixture of cottage garden style planting and some native woodland planting. The challenge of “no lawn” has almost been realised but there is a small patch of grass (rather than “lawn”) which is retained for my granddaughter to be able to roll in the grass!
