Rain stopped play

This morning I was tied up with non-gardening activities so it was just after lunch when I went out. Seeing how the Small Pond area looks in daylight I realised that I now have a great planting opportunity!

From the path side I would like to keep the pond in view – it will be hard enough to keep the rodgersia (now dormant) to the left from completely covering it so the planting round the other side needs to be small ground-cover I think. I’v put in some Ajuga to start the ball rolling ….. then to make a backdrop to the Cotinus I replanted a load of the Iris I lifted yesterday along the back edge of the border …. and half-way through planting them the heavens opened!!!!

Oh well! At least I’ll be able to give some thought to what else to plant now!
